In order to know how to avoid a scammer, you have to know what to look for. Here are some of the most common types. I hope this post helps you guys out!
Flash Traders
Now, this is hard to do now that Animal Jam has improved it's trading systems, but it needs to be acknowledged. A Jammer will click an item on your trade list and trade you a bad item. They will keep doing it then declining until you hit accept (usually by accident) and take your items. Also, if they offer you items for flashing the best, they're lying.
Trust Traders
No thanks! People usually do this with buddies, but I advise you not do it at all. Again, this one is hard with the new updated trade system. They will select an item of yours and over-trade for it. This means you offer more than the actual value of the item selected. You should decline. Then, you over-trade for something of theirs. But usually, they will steal your items and flee the scene.
Best Item Wins
Sure they do. In this scam, you trade for an item, and if they accept, they'll "gift you an item." That's the trick. You over-trade, they scam.
Decliners
Now, again, this one is hard with the new trade system. These Jammers want you to trade for an item. They think, "Maybe because I say that I'll decline, people will over trade..." So when you trade (probably a good trade or over-trade), instead of declining, they accept and, whoosh, your items are gone.
Best Gift Wins
This scam takes place when a person says "GIFT ME BEST," or "BEST GIFT WINS ITEM." You either A) Gift well and get scammed by getting nothing or, B) They don't tell you what you'll win. You gift them and win, and they end up trading you a lousy item.
Gift Traders
This person wants you to trade by gifting. You'll gift them to get whatever item. Sometimes they'll even say "GIFT ME GOOD FOR A SPECIAL SURPRISE!!!!!" Yeah, no. They will either gift you bad or take your items and run. So this is a no-no.
Fear Traders
These scammers get what they want by instilling fear in the hearts of Jammers. They threaten things like, give me this item or I will take it. They might even say give me this or I will hack you. If they could hack you, they would, so chances are that they're lying. Beware these people. Just report, block, and run.
Make Me Accept
These people are "picky." If you trade good (psh, over-trade), they will "give you an item." Don't trust these people, please.
First Trade Wins
They want you to trade what they want so they can take the items and leave. You never end up getting the item they say the would give you.
But We're Buddies/I'll Give it Back
These people will use you. They will be your buddy and act like your friend, and then ask to borrow/ try on your item(s) If you give it to them, chances are, they'll unbuddy you and leave. If they try this, say no! If they guilt trip you, meaning they try to make you feel bad so you'll give in, just ignore them and leave or lock your den. They never really were your friends if they tried to scam you.
I'm A Famous Jammer
These Jammers claim to be famous and usually want you to gift them. Don't. A famous Jammer usually makes videos of their backups and has crazy good items on. Yes, even on spares. So watch out!
False Scams/False Hacks
These Jammers claim to have gotten hacked and/or scammed and want you to gift them. Sometimes they are lying: others aren't. Due to all the liars, the people who really did get hacked or scammed are not taken seriously. These Jammers are the panhandlers of Jamaa.
Thanks, Jammers!
